As the adage states, “Every positive endeavor starts with prayer,” and the Dominican Friars of the Province of St. Joseph are embodying this proverb. The friars have declared the initiation of a 9-month novena to seek blessings for the success of their second annual Dominican Rosary Pilgrimage. The novena will begin on Jan. 27 and will take place on the last Saturday of every month, culminating in a pilgrimage to the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington, D.C.

In the previous year, numerous devotees shared experiences of receiving unique blessings through the novena. A woman started to recite the novena prayer every day alongside her husband. After many years of being distant from the faith, he recommitted himself and even joined her on the pilgrimage to Washington!

Another participant in the novena, a man on death row, contacted us to find out more about the novena. He received prayer cards and took part in the novena from behind bars!

United in prayer

The friars are calling on the faithful to come together in prayer. Those who wish to participate in the novena can acquire a prayer card and access monthly video reflections on the Rosary by going to rosarypilgrimage.org. These contemplations will be shared by several Dominican friars, providing a rich array of spiritual awareness and motivation. Last year, the friars handed out 776,500 novena prayer cards.

The first Rosary Pilgrimage, conducted at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception, was celebrated as a significant triumph by Fr. John Paul Kern, O.P., the Executive Director of the Dominican Friars Foundation. The gathering drew 3,200 Catholics who participated in collective prayer, enjoying the Dominican heritage of articulate preaching, the sacrament of confession, and the observance of the Holy Mass.

A beacon of hope

Fr. John Paul contemplated the gifts of the recent pilgrimage, remarking in a statement, “Numerous blessings were received that day, and Our Lady desires to keep granting these blessings, especially at this time.” Looking forward to the upcoming assembly, he urges the faithful to “start praying with us now, each month, for the triumph of the Dominican Rosary pilgrimage.”

The Dominican Friars eagerly anticipate greeting the faithful for a day filled with spiritual enrichment. on Sept. 28They hold the belief that the mediation of the Blessed Virgin Mary will guide additional souls toward Jesus and enhance their affection and commitment to the Holy Rosary.

Unite with the Dominican Friars in their thoughtful readiness for an occasion that vows to serve as a symbol of hope, togetherness, and spiritual development during these challenging times.
